Alcorn State University's agricultural programs are designed to prepare students for employment in agricultural extension, teaching vocational agriculture, practical farm operation and management, industry, and government agencies. The Department of Agriculture is concerned with conducting research and service activities which are in keeping with the functions of land-grant colleges. Its Cooperative Extension Program is the outreach service function of the department.
