First Year Experience
What is FYE?
The First Year Experience (FYE) is a program designed with the new students in mind and carries the experience of orientation throughout the year. Our Programs begin in the summer and continue throughout the school year. FYE will help you to quickly learn the ins and outs of academic and social life and get the most out of your Freshmen Year. FYE will offer Special First Year Programs tailored to the needs of the students.
The mission of the First Year Experience(FYE) Program is to provide an exceptional learning experience to freshmen that will aid in maximizing their academic success at the university.
Our goal is to help you feel personally, academically, and socially connected to ASU as you make your transition. This is accomplished by personal contact and programs provided by FYE. Our office is here to help you navigate your first year as you make ASU your new home.
The First-Year Program includes
- Orientation that familiarize students with academic expectations and campus resources
- Workshops that develop leadership ability, study habits, time-management skills, and other topics that are essential to college
- First Year Seminar Course (UL101/GC102) that focuses on helping you to develop the skills that will help you to succeed academically
- Personalized academic advising that fosters interaction with faculty/staff and keeps students on track to graduate on time.
Each student is assigned an Academic Advisor. The First-Year Experience (FYE) Advisor will assist you in the following ways:
