PROBATION AND DISMISSAL

 Traffic Light

Academic performance of all currently enrolled graduate students is monitored each semester by the School of Graduate Studies staff.

A graduate student must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 at Alcorn State University to remain in good academic standing. The student must not accumulate more than six semester hours of credit below B (3.0).  Either of the above will result in the removal of the student from candidacy for the degree.

If a student fails to raise the cumulate grade point average to 3.0 or fails to remove letter credit below B, he or she is subject to dismissal from the graduate program.  If a student is dismissed for academic failure, he or she may not apply for readmission to Alcorn State University at any time.

NOTE:  Outstanding grades of Incomplete should not be ignored; a student should speak with his or her adviser about how to handle "Incomplete" grades based on the university and School of Graduate Studies policies. Incompletes will lapse to "F" if not removed within the specified time limit.
