Communiversity
in Action
Yesterday, Wednesday, February
2, 2005 Dr. Bristow, Mr. Christopher Cason, Mr. Kirk McKinley, Ms. Mary Walls,
and Ms. Elena Dobrynina met to discuss a Multi-Cultural Food Feast, an
event planned for the spring semester. The date of the Feast will be confirmed
later, most likely it will be on of the weekends in April, possibly last
weekend before the examination week.
The feast would feature foods
from American communities and international communities. This event will bring
the university and community together by providing a chance to have a taste of
different places. The university would supply the food and the students from the
different communities would supply the creativity. Besides food and festivities
there will be a learning element present: students will prepare a presentation
about their hometown and/or country, present some art, possibly music and dance.
So, actually, in order to reflect the nature of this event in full, it could be
called a Multi-Cultural Festival and Learning Day.
International students are
encouraged to supply ideas and recipes to Elena Dobrynina, Staff Writer /
International Student Recruiter at
elenad@alcorn.edu or WWACB, Suite 511 Office of University Relations
(601)877-6134. Students from American communities please contact Ms. Mary Walls
at the Office of Student Activities, Campus Union Building, (601) 877-6328.
