A Ph.D. from an AACSB accredited university, previous administrative experience, and knowledge of AACSB accreditation standards are required. Associate Professor or Professor of Accounting (tenure track) to work with the Associate Dean, Graduate Business Programs, in developing a unique Master of Accountancy program at Alcorn State University’s Natchez campus and to teach in the program. A doctorate in Accounting from an AACSB accredited school, appropriate experience, record of research, and CPA designation are required. Salary is in line with similar AACSB accredited programs.

Assistant Professor or Professor of Accounting (tenure track) to teach Accounting courses and participate in developing a unique Master of Accountancy (MACCT) program on Alcorn State University’s Natchez campus. Chair, Department of Communications (a tenure-track appointment, preferably as Associate Professor or above). Requirements include a Ph.D. in Mass Communication, Journalism or related area, at least five years of experience in the degree area, preferably in higher education, and a working knowledge of current digital recording equipment and other technologies used in mass productions. The ideal candidate will be able to supervise the department’s faculty and staff and direct the university’s cable television and FM radio stations. The candidate must be able to move the department toward accreditation by the Association for Education in Journalism and to teach effectively within the department.

Assistant or Associate Professor of Communications (two tenure-track positions). Requirements include a Ph.D. in Communications (Broadcast or Print Journalism) and work experience in American Print Journalism, Advertising or Public Relations. The ideal candidate will have experience in American daily newspapers, television news, and/or broadcast news operations, and teaching experience in higher education.

The ASU Mississippi River Research Center has an immediate opening in Watershed Biogeochemistry. The incumbent will conceive, plan, and implement biogeochemistry research programs emphasizing: (1) the role of biogeochemical process in connected ecosystems of landscapes and receiving waters of the southern Independent streams in Mississippi; (2) factors controlling biogeochemical processes in watersheds in southwest Mississippi, especially the Homochitto watershed; and (3) comparative related studies such as nitrogen and phosphorus cycling and transport in watersheds and understanding riparian, fluvial, hyporheic or in-stream processes. The incumbent must have demonstrated abilities to analyze, synthesize, and publish the results of research on biogeochemistry. Interacts with, and provides assistance to, colleagues, and peers in related aspects of the Center’s watershed hydrology/management research. Presents research results at scientific meetings, workshops, and seminars. Trains students, interns, postdoctoral fellows, and/or visiting investigators in the Center’s research program in biogeochemistry. Participates in the Centers’ public education programs.

Software Engineer Research Associate. Applicant must have Ph.D. or M.S. in Computer Science/Software Engineering or closely related discipline. Experience in specifying, architecting, designing, verifying, implementing, and testing software components and systems languages, environments and areas such as: C, C++, and Java; Python, and Perl; Windows and Java environments. Experience with J2EE development, Net web application development, project management, database design and administration on engines such as DB2, Oracle, or MS SQL Server. Excellent oral and written communication skills; substantive track record indicating extensive practical experience. Track record of scholarly research in the area is a plus. 

Image Processing and Pattern Recognition Expert. ASU Cooperative Extension has an immediate opening for a qualified Chief Programmer.  Must have a Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering, or related field plus 3 years of experience in the position offered or 3 years experience developing applications.

The ASU College for Excellence has an immediate opening for an Academic Advisor for Student Athletes. The Advisor will develop, coordinate, implement and assess academic support and other retention services and programs for student-athletes, counsel student-athletes and monitor their overall academic progress, coordinate the tutorial programs and study halls for student-athletes, and analyze academic data as required on student-athletes and report the results. Post Doctorate/Entomologist is a one year research non faculty position. Location:  Alcorn State University Demo Farm, Mound Bayou, MS. Starting Date:  March 15, 2005.

The applicant must possess a Doctorate in Entomology / intergraded pest management with emphasis on soil.  Must have at least two years experience with the ability to develop traps and sustainable methods of controlling wireworm insects in sweet potato       or closely related root or tuber crops.

The Entomologist will assist PIs in all aspect of field and laboratory research associated with evaluating sweet potato germ plasma.  The individual will also be responsible for raising wireworm larvae and evaluating natural and commercial insecticide for their effectiveness.   The candidate will also be responsible for developing successful proposals for funding.

Research Associate/ GIS Specialist is a 25% part-time one year research non faculty position. Location:  Alcorn State University, Alcorn State, MS. Starting Date:  March 15, 2005.

Master’s Degree required in Geographic Information Systems (GIS)/Remote Sensing with strong background in Surveying, Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Geodesy, Photogrammetry, and Geo-statistic. Also requires significant work toward PH.D. and minimum of 4 years experience in principles and practices of GIS; the implementation, utilization, and maintenance of an ESRI-based GIS; spatial data development and analysis; automated Cartography; Web Technologies. Experience in Farmworks software is a plus. Familiarity with research analysis, project management, and office automation software packages such as Microsoft office, Statistical packages such as S-plus, SPSS, GS+, SigmaPlot, and Jump.

The successful candidate will assist all research scientists and students with GIS/ Remote Sensing, plot layouts and statistical analysis. The candidate will work at multiple sites (Mound Bayou & Lorman).

Data Support Technician is a 50% Part-time one year research non faculty position. Location:  Alcorn State University, Alcorn State, MS. Starting Date:  March 15, 2005.

B.S. preferred but will consider individual who possess strong skills and at least 3 years of experience and substantial work toward completion of bachelors.

Individual will be responsible for compiling and analyzing data, assisting all P.I.s with seminars, power point and poster presentations, conducting internet research and manuscript preparation.  Must have experience in WordPerfect, Excel, PowerPoint, Banner, Microsoft and GIS/GPS Technology.

Research Assistant/Technician is a one year research non faculty position. Location:  Alcorn State University, Alcorn State, MS. Starting Date:  March 15, 2005. 

The individual must possess a M.S. in Agriculture, Biology, or Chemistry.  The individual must have at least one-year experience with HPLC.  Additional experience with plant analysis is a plus. 

The research assistant will report directly to all investigators.  The individual will be responsible for assisting the fieldwork, evaluation of germ plasma, and analytical procedures (predominantly HPLC) for sweet potato bioactive components.  The successful candidate will have good interpersonal skills and will be able to supervise work students on an Evans/Allen CSREES funded project.

Research Associate is a one year research non faculty position. Location:  Alcorn State University Demo Farm, Mound Bayou, MS. Starting Date:  March 15, 2005.

M.S. Degree preferred or B.S. Degree required in Agribusiness, Horticulture, Agronomy, or closely related fields and substantial work toward a Masters Degree.  The applicant that posses a B.S. Degree should have at least 3 years experience associated with field plot layout, data acquisition, remote sensing, GIS (Geographical Information System) and GPS (Global Position Systems) Technology.  This position requires experience in grid soil and/or plant tissue sampling with good record keeping skills.  The candidate should have knowledge of Microsoft Office, Arc View, Farm Works (Site Mate, Trac Mate) and other software packages.  Candidates should be able to successfully operate basic farm equipment and scientific instruments.  Candidate should have a valid private applicator certificate license and is able to safely handle restricted use pesticides.

The Research Associate will report directly to the Principle Investigator and will assist research Scientists in all aspects of sweet potato research which involves crop rotation with Brassica, treatment applications, companion planting, data collections, and an evaluation of wireworm infested storage roots.  The applicant must have good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team on an Evans/Allen CSREES funded project.  The successful candidate should have the ability to provide supervision for student workers and other personnel associated wit the project.

Activity Director is a full-time position for Enhancing Student’s Experience Through Engagement. The Director will be responsible for carrying out activities to develop Alcorn State University capacity for the meaningful engagement of students, faculty and staff in co-curricular activities, outside of the classroom as a means of adding value, humanism, civic and social responsibility, volunteerism, leadership, and teamwork to students. Applicant must possess at least a master’s degree in Counseling Education, have experience working with college/university students in a supervisory role. Demonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills are absolutely necessary.

Advisory/Office Manager is a full-time position. Applicant must have secretarial/computer and interpersonal skills. Individual must be a good advisor and able to work on weekend and evenings, and provide leadership in promoting volunteerism among students. Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary for the position.
