  • Computer applications will:

·        Make use of MathType for producing mathematical   documents. This will be done in coordination with Dr. Peter Malik, who will be h addling Reading and Writing in Sciences
·        Provide experience in using computer algebra system with the help of StudyWorks
·        Use EXCELL for help with statistical graphs and calculations

  • Mathematics will concentrate on basic skills. Students will learn math skills, learn how to use graphing calculator for applying these skills, and learn how to use these concepts in some applications from chemistry and biology (materials to be given by respective instructors)All three components of the training will be blended together. Some of the skills that will be subject of focus are:

·        Scientific notation

·        Exponents and radicals

·        Linear, quadratic, and rational equations

·        Logarithmic functions to base 10 (log) and base e (ln)

·        Relation between logarithmic and exponential functions

·        Growth and decay

·        Regression lines and other forms of regression such as quadratic, logarithmic, exponential, and sinusoidal

·        Measures of dispersion and central tendency

·        Diagrammatical representation of Statistical data
