Dwight Fisher Football Field undergoing renovations

by Sports Information

ALCORN STATE, Ms. – After 13 years of playing on the same surface, Dwight Fisher Field at is undergoing a face lift with the addition of an irrigation system and new sod.

Construction on Dwight Fisher Field got underway in July with the removal of the old natural grass surface and alteration of the crown in the middle of the field. To aid in the irrigation of the field over 18 automatic sprinkler heads have been put in place.

Contrary to some rumors, Dwight Fisher Field will remain a natural grass surface. New sod is expected to be laid down by the conclusion of the week. The new surface is expected to be healthy and ready for Alcorn’s season opener against Western Division foe Grambling State on Saturday, Sept. 3.
