Join the fun and excitement of this year’s Southwest Airlines Capital City Classic 2005 Presidents’ Scholarship Private Reception and Gala, featuring the “Hardest Working Man in Radio”, national radio personality and entrepreneur Tom Joyner. The annual event sponsored by Kellogg’s Corporate Citizen Fund and Bell South will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 18, 2005 at the Jackson Marriott. Proceeds will benefit Alcorn State University and Jackson State University. Additional entertainment will be provided by Andy Hardwick and Henry Rhodes.

Since 1998, the Tom Joyner Foundation has raised more than $30 million and has helped thousands of deserving students who attended Historically Black Colleges and Universities that were established prior to 1964 with the primary mission of educating black Americans.

Alcorn State University has been no stranger to the Tom Joyner Foundation. In February 2000, Alcorn was featured as a Tom Joyner School of the Month. With the help of our many supporters and an outstanding contribution of more than $100,000 given by alumnus Mr. D.W. Wilburn, Alcorn was recognized as the university with the highest collection of funds for a School of the Month. The Tom Joyner Foundation matched the funds raised and since then many of our students have received scholarships to continue their education.

Your support of this gala will again help deserving students at Alcorn State University. Tickets are available in the Alcorn State University Foundation office, Room 417, Walter Washington Administrative Classroom Building. Tickets to attend the privet reception and gala are $150.00 and gala tickets are $50.00. Your support is appreciated.

Nationally Syndicated Radio Talk Show Host Tom Joyner to Serve as Master of Ceremonies at Southwest Airlines Capital City Classic 2005 Presidents’ Scholarship Gala

Proceeds for the Gala and all other Capital City Classic-related events to benefit scholarship funds of Alcorn State and Jackson State Universities

Nationally syndicated radio talk show host Tom Joyner will serve as master of ceremonies at the upcoming Southwest Airlines Capital City Classic 2005 Presidents’ Scholarship Gala, at the Jackson Marriott on November 18, beginning at 8 p.m.

Mr. Joyner is bringing his talent, wit, and notoriety to the Jackson area to help Alcorn State and Jackson State Universities increase scholarship dollars benefiting students in financial need. The Gala is sponsored by Kellogg’s Corporate Citizen Fund and BellSouth. Gala tickets cost $50 and special ticket packages are also available which include photo opportunities with Mr. Joyner and signage.
