High School Senior and Community
College Sophomore Day
On November 12, 2005, Alcorn State held the annual fall High
School Senior and Community College Sophomore Day.
On that day high school students, transfer students, chaperones
and parents had an opportunity to visit the campus. They
received information regarding financial aid, scholarship
opportunities, housing and extracurricular programs.
Administrators, faculty, staff and students answered questions
and helped make it a successful event
Following the information session and visits with department
representatives the visitors had lunch followed by the feature
attractions of the day, the Football Braves hosting the Alabama
A&M Bulldogs.
“by Alcorn Sports Information Director
ALCORN STATE, Miss. – Alcorn State and Alabama A&M entered
Saturday’s SWAC showdown with a simple mandate: Win and stay in
the conference title race. Alabama A&M walked out of Jack Spinks
stadium with a 28-21 victory and the SWAC Eastern Division
championship after Mississippi Valley defeated Alabama State
later in the day. Nic Luke and Kelcy Luke scored two touchdowns
apiece, and the Bulldogs (8-2 overall, 6-2 in SWAC) survived a
late Alcorn State rally. The loss snapped Alcorn’s four-game
winning streak, and it also prevented Alcorn (5-4, 4-3) from
securing a winning season.”
