Memorandum

TO:             The Alcorn State University Community
FROM:       Clinton Bristow, Jr., President
DATE:        March2, 2006
SUBJECT:  New Dining Hall Construction

As Alcorn continues its growth, I am pleased to report that construction on the new dining hall will begin on Monday, March 6, 2006.  The new facility will be constructed in the campus green area directly across from the front of the Library.

During the construction period, there will be major traffic and parking disruptions. ASU Drive from Bowles Hall going up pass the Library will be closed to construction traffic only. Please allow ample time to get from one location on campus to another because of street closures, reduced parking and heavy construction traffic. Please be careful and safe.

Thanks for your cooperation as Alcorn moves forward to better serve us all.

Alpha Zeta Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma honored for highest GPA in MS

This past weekend (February 24-25) in Jackson, Miss, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., held its 92nd annual State Conference.  There were numerous of meetings and events that took place.  The Alpha Zeta Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma, from Alcorn State University, walked away with some tops honors.  Some of those honors included having the highest GPA average in the state of MS, and came in second place for chapter of the year.

Also, Bro. Theo Henderson, an Alcorn State University cheerleader and Jackson native, received the individual award for having the highest GPA in the state of Miss.

In a hard effort, Korri Jones gave all the oratorical contestants a run.  With stiff competition, he placed 3rd. This marks the second straight year that the Alpha Zeta Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma has been honored for having the highest GPA.
