Alcorn Hosts 3rd Annual Steve McNair Camp
The Steve McNair Foundation and the Alcorn State Athletic Department hosted the 3rd Annual Steve McNair Camp to be at Alcorn State University on July 7, 2006.
A total of 402 youth participated in this year’s camp, representing an increase of approximately 75 participants over last year. The drill session proceeded as usual with participants grouped by age (9 – 17).
McNair’s mother opted not to come to the administration building for refreshments. Instead she stayed on the athletics facility grounds.
In his closing remarks to camp participants, McNair emphasized his gratitude to the university for hosting the camp, as Christopher Cason, University Relations Director, expressed the institution’s gratitude to him and the camp organizers beforehand. McNair then stressed the importance of faith, education, good citizenship, and the maintenance of good grades in the accomplishment of worthwhile goals.
