Spotlight on Excellence
Alcorn State MBA Students
Participate in R.I.S.E. Sixth Annual Global Student
Investment Forum
On June, 7, 2006, Oleg A.
Efimochkin, second-year MBA student from Voronezh, Russia, sent
his letter of appreciation to Dr. Clinton Bristow, Jr., Alcorn
State University president, to express his gratitude for a unique
and enriching experience that MBA students had participating in
Redefining Investment Strategy Education (R.I.S.E.) Sixth Annual
Global Student Investment Forum on March 30-April 1, 2006 at the
University of Dayton.
At present
Efimochkin is on his summer internship with the Trustmark Bank in
Jackson, MS.
The letter
reads:
"Dear Dr.
Bristow:
I would like to thank you for
this remarkable opportunity you provided for MBA students to
participate in the Redefining Investment Strategy Education (R.I.S.E.),
the Sixth Annual Global Student Investment Forum, March 30-April
1, 2006 at the University of Dayton.
Participation in R.I.S.E. VI,
the first forum of its kind to bring leading students, faculty,
and Wall Street experts together in an interactive learning
environment, provided Alcorn students with priceless opportunities
to gain an up-to-date information about financial industries as
well as a chance to discuss a range of significant issues facing
tomorrow’s leaders in the financial services industry.
Alcorn students were afforded
an inestimable opportunity to participate in forums, led by a
group of internationally renowned industry leaders, sharing their
insights on a variety of topics such as Alternative Investments,
Ethics, Fixed Income, Hedge Funds, International Markets,
Portfolio Manager Perspectives, and Risk Management. Keynote
speakers, Richard Bernstein, Dr. William C. Dudley, Michael G.
Oxley, Dr. William Poole and others, presented very valuable
information.
For Alcorn students, the most
valuable experience at the conference was the Career Strategies
Forum, which explored techniques for competing and succeeding in a
competitive marketplace. In addition, the Career Strategies Forum
included discussions on various careers within capital markets and
asset management, including a panel discussion on post MBA
perspectives. Also, R.I.S.E. VI included several Portfolio
Management and Security Analysis workshops, which primarily
focused on skill enhancement.
I would like to specifically
thank Mr. Mark Johnson, who accompanied us on this trip and Dr.
Steve Wells, who initiated this outstanding idea. The
opportunities, provided for MBA students to participate in R.I.S.E.
VI, are a priceless experience and a pertinent addition to the
education, gained at Alcorn MBA. I would appreciate greatly if you
can afford MBA students with the same opportunity to participate
in R.I.S.E. VII next year.
Sincerely
yours,
Oleg
Efimochkin."
