Establish Relations with Russian University
On
May 20-28, 2007, Drs. McAfee, Dean School of Agriculture,
Research, Extension and Applied Sciences (AREAS), Kenneth
Stallings, Chair, School of Agriculture, Wesley Whittaker,
professor and program leader, School of AREAS and Elena
Dobrynina, Staff Writer/International Student Recruiter,
Office of University Relations, visited Voronezh State
Agricultural University (VSAU) of Voronezh, Russia.
The
primary purpose of the visit was to establish relations and
sign a preliminary agreement of cooperation between the two
institutions. The mutually beneficial cooperation will include
student exchange, exchange of faculty and administrators, as
well as joint research projects.
The
idea of cooperation was born during discussion between Dr.
McAfee and Russian professor Nikolai Dobrynin of VSAU who was
visiting Alcorn State within the consortium of scholars
program last fall.
The
reciprocal visit of VSAU delegation is scheduled for
September, 2007. VSAU President, Vice President of
International Affairs and faculty will meet with ASU students,
faculty and administrators with the visit culminating with ASU
and VSAU presidents signing a modified and improved agreement
of cooperation.
