Alcorn State Alumna Kimberly Morgan Becomes
Miss Mississippi 2007
Kimberly Nicole Morgan, one
of the brightest and most celebrated of Alcorn’s alumni, Miss
Alcorn 2004-2005, won the coveted Miss Mississippi crown in the
annual pageant, held in Vicksburg. The pageant celebrated its
50th anniversary this year. Kimberly will now go on to compete
in the Miss America pageant, thus fulfilling a lifelong
aspiration.
Ms. Morgan graduated in 2006
with a Vocal Music Education degree and is currently working as
a music teacher in Madison Palmer School, Marks, MS. Last
February she brought a group of high school students to her
alma mater to savor the atmosphere of the unique academic
resort, renowned for its professional values and lifelong
experiences. Ms. Morgan said she was happy that her students
had a chance to visit Alcorn State and she hoped some of them
will come here to pursue their degrees.
“I have had so many memorable
moments during my tenure at Alcorn. From the times being with my
friends, to becoming Miss Freshman, to participating in my very
first coronation, to my first SWAC football game experience, to
becoming Miss Capital City Classic, probating as a member of
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, the night of being elected Miss ASU, to
having the President of my university deliver the most beautiful
introduction of me at my very own coronation crowning, to the
overwhelming joy from my peers giving me a tribute, to the
performance at the 55th Presidential Inauguration in
Washington D.C., and to the moment I performed as lead for the
major opera, “Porgy and Bess” in Natchez, Mississippi, along
with performers from all other the world. My college memories
are numerous and unforgettable. I feel blessed and honored to
have seen the things I have seen, been where I have been, and
represented as a part of the things as told,” said Morgan.
