Scholarships for Intensive Summer Language Learning Program

Middlebury College is offering a competitive program of scholarships for students who attend HBCU’s for summer 2008.  They will award twelve comprehensive fee scholarships for one summer of language study.  Applicants for this scholarship must have demonstrated a strong interest in language study, and support of their home institution.

Middlebury College has intensive summer immersion program for college credit in ten languages: Arbic, Chins, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. A summer at the Language Schools can be the ideal way to start a new language or move quickly through the intermediate and advanced levels of language learning.  With expert in-class instruction, a multitude of co-curricular activities in language, and close contact with faculty and staff, we create a 24/7 learning environment supported by Middlebury’s trademark Language Pledge.

Goat Demonstration a Hit at the State Fair

The Southwest Meat Goat Project, a project under the direction of the Small Farm Development Center, Alcorn State University, sponsored Mrs. Gloria Richardson at the Mississippi State Fair October 12, 2007.

Mrs. Richardson, affectionately called The Goat Lady, displayed her exhibit in the Trademark Building of the fairgrounds. Nearly fifteen hundred samples of goat meat and goat by-products were given out to attendees. Mrs. Richardson is a state certified goat meat wholesaler. This means her meat products have met all requirements for sale within the state.

Sponsorship of goat displays such as Mrs. Richardson is part of a large initiative by the university to facilitate the development of a collaborative, integrated and viable meat goat operation in Southwest Mississippi.
