ASU Department of
Agriculture has an immediate opening for the position of
Research Associate. Qualifications: must have at least
a Masters' degree in economics, agricultural economics,

Alcorn Writing Project (AWP.)
The AWP offers an array of programs to K-12 teachers in twelve
southwestern counties of Mississippi to help them elicit more, and
better, writing from their students. The Director of the AWP
holds a half-time position and reports to the Chair of the
Department of English at Alcorn State University. Minimum
requirements include a master=s degree with at least 18 graduate
hours in English, at least five years of experience teaching
writing at the university or K-12 level, and a working familiarity
with current approaches to writing pedagogy as well as with the
objectives and philosophies of the National Writing Project (NWP).
Experience in a local site of the NWP and completion of a local
site=s Summer Institute are highly desirable. Experience writing
and administering grants is helpful. The Director is directly
responsible for all activities of the AWP. The Director submits
annual applications for the grants that fund the Project and is
responsible for all assessments and reports required by funding
agencies. The Director also budgets grant funds, submits and
approves requisitions for AWP programs, supervises two
Co-Directors and submits related personnel documents, and
generates contracts for and supervises AWP consultants. The
Director is also responsible for planning and implementing all AWP
programs, giving particular emphasis to the Project=s annual
Invitational Summer Institute (SI), and serves as lead teacher in
the SI. The Director also plans and attends monthly continuity
meetings for AWP teacher-consultants and attends all meetings of
the statewide network of sites and the annual conference of the

Postdoctoral Research
Associate: Nutrient Management & Conservation Planning.
Candidate should have a Ph. D in
soil fertility/nutrient management or a closely related field with
training and/or experience in soil and plant analysis, measurement
of soil carbon and nitrogen pool and fluxes in relation to land
use and residue management by using a range of field and
laboratory techniques. Current areas of research include organic
horticulture, horticultural residue management, conservation
tillage for vegetable production, soil and tissue diagnostics,
temporal and spatial changes in nutrient availability from crop
residues, organic manures, inorganic fertilizers and nutrient
uptake, and plant response to nutrient management. Strong written
and oral communication skills in explaining soil and water
conservation, and nutrient management issues on horticultural
fields and demonstrated ability with computer software are

includes eight individual boar stalls with flush gutter waste
control. A separate room for semen collection is directly
connected with a state- of -the art semen evaluation and
processing laboratory. Responsibilities: Boar semen
collections, processing and evaluation. Detecting heat patterns in
weaned sows and replacement gilts; Natural or artificial mating of
the heat detected animals. Recording of data on the events
occurring in the breeding, farrowing and gestation areas; Carrying
out 21-day heat checking and ultrasonic pregnancy checking;

(SRI) Department of Advanced Technologies, School of
Agriculture, Research, Extension, and Applied Sciences has
an immediate opening for the position of Assistant/Associate
Professor of Robotics and Automation Technology.
Responsibilities:
Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Robotics and
Automation Technology; participate in departmental and university
services; and develop technical laboratories. Applicants should
have extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering and material
science. Applicants should also have a special interest in
developing and teaching undergraduate courses in computer aided
design and manufacturing, robotics, engineering mechanics and
control systems. Candidates are also expected to be able to teach
material science at introductory undergraduate level. Familiarity
with MEMS systems will be considered as an advantage.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in
Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology,
Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline is required.
Applicants should have inclination toward scholarly research in
the discipline, good computer skills, excellent oral and written
communication skills, and the ability to publish articles in the
national and international scholarly journals and conferences and

positions in psychology. Rank and
salary for each position are negotiable based on experience and
qualifications. Responsibilities: The successful candidates
will participate in all aspects of undergraduate education in
psychology including, but not limited to, teaching, advising,
research, serving on university committees, public service, and
grant writing. Qualifications: The successful candidates
should hold a Ph.D. in psychology and be willing to teach in a
wide range of undergraduate courses including but not necessarily
limited to the following: general psychology, history of
psychology, computer applications in psychology, motivation,
learning, cognition, industrial/organizational, and personality.
Opportunities also exist for the successful candidates to develop
courses in his/her special areas of interest. The normal course
load is 12 hours per semester. The successful candidates should be
committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching, advising, and
research. Experience in working with individuals from minority and
culturally diverse populations is desirable, but not required.
