Alcorn State University Multidisciplinary Departmental Breast Health Education and Screening Project - School Of Nursing |
Volunteer faculty from the School of Nursing, the Department of Social Sciences, and the Department of Health and Physical Education recruit students in health-related professions. These students are trained to provide breast health education sessions in Adams, Claiborne, Jefferson and Wilkinson counties. The breast health education sessions include breast health awareness for early detection of breast cancer through self breast examination, promote breast cancer prevention, provide breast health screening opportunities and awareness of active breast resources to enhance quality of life.
About Breast Cancer:
According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most common cancer found in women. Breast cancer has no boundaries; however, it usually occurs after age 40 or older.
