The Educational Testing Service (ETS) Praxis Series assessment is a requirement for graduation from the undergraduate teaching programs at Alcorn State University. The Praxis I and Praxis II is a certification requirement for those who desire to certify to teach in the State of Mississippi. Students are responsible for making application and paying required fees to take the examination. Students are encouraged to take Praxis I (Academic Skills Assessments) in the second semester of their sophomore year. The Praxis II (Principles of Learning and Teaching Tests and Specialty Area Test) should be taken before student teaching. All teacher education majors should have a copy of their Praxis scores sent directly to the Office of Certification in the State Department of Education.
