The Advanced Technologies program educates students to be managers of technology in industry and government. Designed to prepare generalists, the program covers topics including general education, technical specialty, related technical subjects, science, mathematics, and industrial management. Students choose to specialize in one of two areas: computer networking or computer-integrated manufacturing.

The Department of Advanced Technologies offers instruction leading to the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology. This degree has two curricula options:

In addition to the degree granting programs, the department also provides professional courses in Trades and Industrial Education to aid teachers of trade subjects in meeting state certification requirements.

The Department of Advanced Technologies offers a pre-engineering program as a cooperative undertaking between Alcorn State University, Mississippi State University, Southern University, Baton Rouge, LA and the University of Wisconsin, Plattesville, WI and other universities having full accredited engineering programs. This program requires students to earn up to 73 semester hours of approved credit at Alcorn and acquire the remaining courses by transferring to cooperating institutions.
