ART
Department of Fine Arts

The program offered by the art area is unique in that instead of concentrating on students with a special talent for art, it focuses on the general education of all students to expand their range of ideas and to enhance their understanding of mankind, to increase vocabulary by writing and speaking about art, and to introduce students to drawing and design as a means of communication.

All art courses have AR 214 Art Appreciation as their prerequisite. This course is designed to familiarize students with the practice of looking at works of art and with introductory studio techniques. After completing AR 214, students may take a range of introductory level courses either as electives or to supplement their major fields.
