About Commencement

Alcorn State University has a rich history of Commencement traditions that celebrate the academic achievement of its students to comfortably accommodate the graduates, their family members, and guests. To assist you in navigating the Commencement facility and being cognizant of formalities during this ceremony, information is provided for your convenience.

 

Seating

Seating for the public is open with the exception of the designated areas for special guests, the graduates, faculty, and the handicapped. Due to limited seating in the Davey L. Whitney HPER Complex, the saving of seats will not be allowed.

Photography and Videos

Professional photographers will be available to take pictures of the graduates as they walk across the stage. After graduation, you can order online from GRAD IMAGES at www.gradimages.com or call (800) 261-2576.

 

Academic Regalia

The academic regalia worn by graduates during Commencement represent degree colors respective to the academic department attended. The following color guide is provided to familiarize graduates with the expected color according to your anticipated degree. This information can especially be helpful during the issuance of caps and gowns to ensure you have the correct color.
