Affidavit of Financial Support (click here)

International students must validate they have sufficient financial resources to support their intent to study in the United States. In order to do so, USCIS requires students must submit to the attending University, a Statement of Finances to provide evidence they have sufficient funds to meet expenses incurred during their first year of study. Students must prove that they have available funds, either personally or through a sponsor in order to complete their study. Financial plans should be made to account for subsequent years of the student’s program of study in the United States. An average of 24 months is estimated for degree completion. At Alcorn State University, students are required to submit an Affidavit of Support and a bank statement. These documents must not be older than three weeks.

To assist students in meeting the requirement for validation of financial independence, the Affidavit of Financial Support document has been prepared to guide students in this process. All guidelines outlined in this document must be adhered to. All contents of the Statement of Financial Support must be true and correct.

All figures are estimates and are subject to change each academic year. The affidavit and bank statement must be stated in US dollars. Incomplete Statement of Financial Proofs will delay completion of an applicant’s admission file. Living expenses during the summer period and the cost of optional summer classes are not included in these calculations. If a spouse, child(ren) accompanies the F-1 student to the US, the expenses should be calculated according to the information provided on the International Student Financial Proof and Affidavit of Support document .
