No Commencement Ceremony is Offered in Summer 


the big day is drawing near. there are several steps to take so you can graduate on time and can participate in the degree completion activities or the commencement ceremony. take a few moments to review the information below for more information on what needs to be done.

·    You must apply no later than the deadline

·    You must be admitted to the graduate degree program for which you are applying for a degree before filing your Application for Degree

·    You must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher

·    Program of Study must be on file in the Graduate Office and student must not earn more than two Cs to  graduate

·     Unmet requirements must be completed the semester you are graduating (enrolled in final courses, taken required exit exams, thesis defense completed, bound thesis or research project submitted, etc.) 

·    You must fulfill all admission requirements



·  Apply for Graduation if you are within completion of the last 6-9 hours of your Program of Study

·  Complete an Application for Degree for the term you wish to graduate; if you do not complete all requirements for the respective term, you must resubmit an application for the new term intended

·  A student CANNOT graduate without submitting an application

·  You must meet with your academic advisor to ensure all departmental progression to degree completion requirements are met

·  Make sure you have completed all core and or exit exams required by your department by the close of the term in which you wish to graduate

·  If you have courses to be substituted, make sure your academic advisor submits the proper paperwork

·  Collaborate with faculty to resolve and remove any outstanding incomplete grades and other grades that do not meet graduate requirements

·  Clear up any Holds on your account for financial or academic reasons

·  Check your Application for Degree to make sure the name you want printed on your diploma is correct

·  List the email on your Application for Degree that you use frequently to communicate and receive mail; check your account often for important updates from the Graduate School

The list of prospective graduates is a preliminary roster of students applying for May 2017 Commencement. Degree audits will be conducted February 6-March 10, 2017, to provide students with results of the audit. Students with questions regarding their progression to degree completion are advised to contact your academic advisor.

Diploma Issuance

Please be advised that your diploma will be available after commencement in room 201 in the Davey L. Whitney Complex for Graduate Studies. The Office of Graduate Studies will release it to you upon presenting your identification card or driver’s license. We look forward to serving you as an alumnus of this great institution.
