Acquisition Department

ACQUISITIONS DEPARTMENT

The mission of the Acquisitions Department is to build, develop, organize, preserve, and maintain a quality collection of library materials that will meet the planned instructional, research and public service needs of the University.

The Acquisitions Department is responsible for acquiring materials which have been selected for the library’s collection. These items include books, periodicals, audio-visuals, microforms, and electronic resources.

Acquisitions works closely with other academic departments, librarians, the Library Advisory Committee (LAC) and other faculty to build the library’s collection in support of the teaching, research and service missions of the University. The Acquisitions Department is located on the second floor of the library.

Recommendations for purchase of materials may be submitted in the following ways: in person, campus mail or e-mail.

In person: If you are in the library, you may give the requests to the acquisitions librarian, the reference librarian on duty or to a member of the circulation staff.

Campus mail: Send a completed Recommendation for Library Form (available from the acquisitions department) or initialed Choice Cards to the acquisitions librarian.

If you have questions regarding your requests please call the Acquisitions Department 601.877.6354 or faculty can contact their Departmental Library Liaison.
