First Year Experience

Fall 2016 new student orientation

Welcome to Alcorn State University!

You’re about to begin an incredible journey and it’s our goal to help make it the best it can be. We look forward to meeting you at Fall 2016 New Student Orientation which will be held on Thursday, August 18 - Sunday, August 21. Registration for new and transfer students will be held on Friday, August 19 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.The Opening Session for New Student Orientation will begin at 4:00 p.m. in the James L. Bolden Campus Union Ballroom on Thursday, August 18. The Family Picnic/Block Party for new students and parents will be held immediately after the opening session behind the Dr. Clinton Bristow Jr. Dining Facility. Classes will begin on Monday, August 22.

Orientation is required for ALL students.  At orientation, you will get the opportunity to learn about the campus, meet other new students, talk to faculty and staff, and discover what services are available to you. Orientation is a great time to ask questions, and get a sneak peek of what to expect at ASU before the semester starts. Studies have shown that students who attend orientation have higher college success rates.

On behalf of the faculty, staff and administration at Alcorn State University, we look forward to joining you as you begin this exciting journey toward a successful future.

Safe travels and let me be the first to welcome you to your new home!
