For the past 19 years Alcorn State University has participated in the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge program (HCASC). HCASC is a quiz bowl competition sponsored by American Honda for Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Game play consists of two teams who face-off with "toss-up" questions on a wide range of subject matter. Bonus questions are asked when toss-up questions are answered correctly. Topics include history, science, sports, popular culture, religion, music, politics, black history and culture, and geography.

The competition takes place on two levels: campus and national. Campus competition occurs on campus right after mid-term examinations and the national competition occurs in March in Orlando, Florida. A "varsity" team is selected from the campus competition to represent Alcorn at the national level. Sixty-four HBCUs compete for the national title in Orlando.

Campus competition is open to all undergraduate students at Alcorn.. Practice games for those interested in learning how to play begin in September each year. Watch for signs on campus or contact Dr. Larry Konecky at 877-6138 or 6261. You may form your own team of four to five students (four players and an alternate) or leave your name and number with Dr. Konecky for placement on a team. The deadline for signing up to play in the campus level tournament is October 10. You must participate in the campus level tournament to be considered for the varsity team.

The 2008 Campus tournament will take place in the J.D. Boyd Library auditorium just after mid-term examinations.

Come be a part of a winning team.
