Trevor Klassen, senior, Physical Education
major, from Sascatoon, Sascatchewan, Canada, is proud of
his second cousin, Cindy Klassen's achievements during Olympics.
Cindy Klassen
(born in
Winnipeg,
Manitoba) is a
Canadian
skater and Canada's all-time most decorated
Olympian. She became the first Canadian to win five medals
in one
Olympic Games. With this achievement, she tied American
Eric Heiden's record of five medals won at an Olympics (1980)
by a speedskater. At the same time, she overtook the previous
Canadian record of most medals (three) at the same Olympic
games, held by
Gaetan Boucher. Because of her success at the Turin
Olympics, she was named flagbearer for the
closing ceremony. Her winning the largest number of medals
at the Turin Olympics caused
International Olympic Committee president
Jacques Rogge to call her the "woman of the games".

Klassen and her 5 medals
won at the 2006 Olympics.
Alcorn State University family sends
Klassen's family our warm regards and wishes Cindy new athletic
victories. We are also proud of Trevor's achievements in
baseball (he plays as an infielder/pitcher for the Braves) and
hope that he will follow Cindy's lucky path in his field!
