April 10th Incident Report

INCIDENT: Campus Fight

REPORTED ON: Monday, April 10, 2017 Approximately 5:50 p.m.

LOCATIONS: Dr. Clinton Bristow Jr. Dining Facility and Medgar Wiley Evers Heritage Village Parking Lot


Alcorn Campus Police received a report Monday, April 10 concerning an incident in the Dr. Clinton Bristow Jr. Dining Facility involving a number of students. All available officers reported to the scene, upon arrival, the incident was diffused at the cafeteria. The officers secured the facility and began to question witnesses. Officers also transported individuals who had been identified as being involved in the incident to the Campus Police Department.

At approximately 5:55 p.m., an officer on patrol at the Medgar Wiley Evers Heritage Village requested back up because he observed students preparing to fight. He exited his vehicle and attempted to diffuse the situation, but it escalated. Five officers responded; however, upon arrival, the situation was diffusing. Officers secured the scene and started to identify involved individuals and witnesses.

Campus Police is investigating this incident, which is an on-going investigation and additional subjects may face disciplinary actions. As a result of the investigation, and in accordance with Alcorn’s Student Code of Conduct, several students were placed on interim suspension pending the outcome of their disciplinary hearings.
