Vice President for Finance and Administrative Services

Carolyn DuPré originally hails from Richton, Miss. She graduated from Richton High School in 1981 and matriculated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and an emphasis in accounting. Later, she attended Jackson State University and completed a master’s of professional accountancy.

Soon after graduating from USM, DuPré began her professional work experience in the Perry County Tax Collector’s Office. She moved on to work in the Perry County Tax Assessor’s Office and then the Hattiesburg Public School District’s business office. Seeking to advance her career, DuPré moved closer to Jackson in 1989 to work for the Piney Woods School. After nine years at Piney Woods and becoming a certified public accountant, she operated her own CPA practice for two years.

Next, DuPré joined a small CPA firm, Turner and Associates, and also accepted a position with the Hinds County Board of Supervisors as budget director, followed by a position at Hinds Community College and then five years working for Alcorn State University. She served as chief financial officer for Jackson Hinds Comprehensive Health Center for two years before returning to Alcorn, bringing her wide experience in accounting and management.

DuPré is committed to community and public service. She is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta, through which she participates in many community service projects in and around Jackson. She is a member of the Jackson 2000, promoting racial harmony throughout the city, and of the New Canney Creek M.B. Church in Jackson.

She was named one of the 50 Leading Business Women, Class of 2013, by the Mississippi Business Journal. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Mississippi Society of CPAs, and Southern Association of College Business Officers.

DuPré and her husband, Moses, have two children, Carmen and Joshua.
