Graduate Admission
Students who are seeking the Masters degree must
hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Graduates
of unaccredited institutions should read the guidelines for special
admissions. All applicants must submit a complete application package for
admissions which includes the following:
• a completed application for admissions;
• the results of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the
Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT), or PRAXI I and II; • two letters of recommendation; • an official transcript of all academic work on the collegiate
level; • an application fee of $10.00 usd (check or money order). This fee
applies to out-of-state applicants only.
Students seeking admission to the School of Graduate Studies to
pursue the Specialist in Elementary Education degree must submit the
following:
• a completed application for admissions; • two letters of recommendation; • an official transcript indicating the applicant has completed a
Masters in Elementary Education or a related field with a cumulative
GPA of 3.20/4.00; • a letter of approval from the department chairperson and/or dean; • a photocopy of the applicants valid teacher’s license;
• an application fee of $10.00 usd (check or money order). This fee
applies to out-of-state applicants only.
Students seeking admission to the School of Graduate Studies as a
non-degree seeking student must submit the following:
• a completed application for admissions; • two letters of recommendation; • an official transcript of all academic work on the collegiate
level; • a statement of purpose; • an application fee of $10.00 usd (check or money order). This fee
applies to out-of-state applicants only.
Admission Deadlines
The application for admission to the School of
Graduate Studies and all supporting documents should be on file 30
days prior to the date of enrollment. The deadlines for application
are as follows:
• Fall–July 15th
• Spring-November 25th
• Summer I-April 25th
• Summer II-May 25th
Types of Admission to Graduate Programs
There are four types of admission to graduate programs at Alcorn State
University.
