Dedicated Alcorn State University Braves football fans gathered to send the team off with encouraging posters and cheers as they departed campus for Houston, Texas Thursday, Nov. 30 for a fourth consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship.

The Braves will faceoff against the Grambling State University Tigers in the final SWAC Championship game Saturday, Dec. 2 at NRG Stadium at 3:30 p.m. Eager fans waved their purple and gold pom-poms while cheering on their beloved team.

Fans are excited and looking forward to supporting the Braves in Houston this weekend. Patrick Parker, a junior agriculture education major, expressed his excitement to support the Braves.

“I am excited to support my school because we are making history by going to the championship four times in a row, and this is the final SWAC Championship game so it is a must that I go. I am also looking forward to gathering with friends and family,” said Parker.

Devina Hogan, director of student engagement, stated why she is looking forward to the trip.

“I’m really excited about the upcoming game in Houston. I’m going to the game with confidence that we’re going to be victorious,” said Hogan.

The football team has been preparing all week to hit the turf on Saturday. Norlando Veals, wide receiver, stated his thoughts about returning to the SWAC Championship for a fourth time.

“It feels great to be going to the championship for the fourth straight year. It is also a blessing to have won four Eastern Division Championships in a row, but this year we are going to finish the deal,” said Veals.
