Mission
The Office of Educational Equity and Inclusion at
Alcorn State University is committed to providing leadership and support to:
- foster and enhance an inclusive campus climate which
affirms the value and contributions of every member of our Alcorn family
- provide information regarding the university’s diversity
efforts, current demographics, emerging trends, and long-range plans for
capitalizing on future opportunities
- offer resources for best practices in the field and
on-going training on diversity issues
- engage our community partners in social justice education initiatives
grounded in strength-based practices to demonstrate the university’s commitment
to providing opportunities and access to underresourced populations
- work collaboratively with other campus units in the development
new programs that meaningfully address existing performance gaps for current
populations on campus
- represent the university by serving as the institutional
liaison to various community and governmental bodies addressing diversity
- assist in advancing recruitment and retention efforts that
help in creating and sustaining a diverse student body
- provide support in the efforts to deliver a workforce
climate for attracting and retaining a diverse faculty, staff, and
administration
- offer guidance and technical assistance to the university
President as well as administration, faculty, staff, and students regarding
diversity issues
