Steve Latreal “AIR II” McNair
February 14, 1973 – July 4, 2009

Dear Alumni, Students, Friends and Fans:

For four seasons Alcorn football fans packed stadiums to be electrified by the evasive running maneuvers and needle threading passes of our hero, Steve "Air II" McNair. And game after game Steve did not disappoint. While his performance on the field could be mesmerizing, around campus he was just another fun loving college student with a winning smile. His collegiate career was one that exemplified the heart and spirit of an Alcornite. His on-the-field exploits and passion for the game of football will never be forgotten.

It is with great pride that we honor and pay tribute to the memory of our distinguished alumnus. His life and legacy, his impact on the world will be forever preserved and continually inspire future generations to unlimited greatness.

This season, the Braves, along with all other SWAC teams will wear the number 9 on the left rear of their helmets in McNair's honor, and fans are asked join the salute by wearing the number nine also.
