President George E. Ross held a town hall meeting on Wednesday, October 21 at 10:00 a.m. to provide an update on how present economic conditions are affecting the University's budget and to review cost-savings initiatives.  The meeting was teleconferenced to the Natchez and Vicksburg campuses, carried live on Alcorn's radio station WPRL. WPRL is streamed live on the internet so listeners could also catch the broadcast online.

The state of the budget contains about $7 million dollars in funding cuts for Alcorn State University, necessitating decisions for filling the gap.  Alcorn President George E. Ross shared the huge responsibility for strategic, smart decisions with faculty, staff and students and provided an update on how the present economic conditions are affecting and will impact the University’s budget, now and in the future.  Cost-savings initiatives and efficiencies were discussed, the Town Hall Meeting ended with the president addressing questions from the audience.
