Alcorn Professor is a recipient of the 2009 Humanities Teacher Award
Dr. Dickson A.M. Idusuyi has been selected as a recipient of a 2009 Humanities Teacher Award. The award is given to a faculty member who has excelled in the area of Humanities. Dr. Idusuyi will receive a $500 honorarium and certificate to be presented by the Mississippi Humanities Council on Friday, February 26, 2010. As a requirement, Dr. Idusuyi will present a public lecture on ‘The Impediments to Economic Development in African Countries: As the Consequences of Colonization/The Scramble for Africa”.
Dr. Dickson Idusuyi has B.S. and M.S. degrees in agricultural economics (minor in economics) and a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration. He is an associate professor in the Department of Social Sciences at Alcorn State University where he has been employed since 1988. He teaches economics, statistics, research methods, public policy/administration, organizational theory, and state and local government. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Idusuyi is president of the Faculty Senate and Chair of the Promotion and Tenure Committee. Other committees on which he serves are Budget Advisory, Strategic Planning, Dean Council, Commencement, Academic Program Review, Alcorn’s Steering for NCAA, and The University Master Plan. Dr. Idusuyi also serves as chair of the Department of Social Science Retention Committee and Safety Committee and is a member of the Search Committee. He serves as an advisor to Alcorn State University’s Young Democratic Club and Student Government Association.
