ASU Foundation Board announces funding priorities for 2010-2011
ASU Foundation Board finalized the new 2010-2011 campaign goals and funding priorities at its recent meeting that took place on the ASU Natchez Campus. The new campaign’s goal is $1.4 million and the funding priorities include collecting $200,000 as unrestricted support to Alcorn; $500,000 – for scholarships; another $500,000 – to secure a new Alcorn bus; and $200,000 - to erect a life-size statue to Medgar Wiley Evers ’52 on the Lorman campus.
The Board that has a number of Alcornites as new members, voted to explore the feasibility of developing a “Village of Alcorn”, community of new housing for faculty and staff with commercial amenities. The Board recognized Dr. Rudolph Waters Sr., former executive vice president of Alcorn State University, who serves as advisor to Interim President Norris Allen Edney, for his continued volunteer support of the Board, and specifically, his recent calling of major gift donors on behalf of the Always Alcorn Annual Fund Campaign.
The Board will convene October 30 to elect new leadership to take office in January 2011.
