Public Meeting to Be Held on December 2 about Alcorn State University's NCAA Recertification Effort

Alcorn State University is currently undergoing a study of its athletics programs as part of the recertification process mandated by the National Collegiate Athletic Association for Division I institutions.

A public meeting will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. in the Ray Johnson Auditorium of the Extension Complex next to the Morris/Boykin Agricultural Science Building on campus for faculty, staff, students and administrators to learn about the university’s recertification effort and to give their input on the self-study plan.


The study covers academic integrity, governance and commitment to rules compliance, and commitment to gender and diversity and student-athlete well-being. Drafts of the rules compliance and academic integrity sections of the plan are now available on the university’s Web site at www.alcorn.edu/FAR .


All members of the university’s community are encouraged to review the rules compliance and academic integrity sections and to give input to Alcorn's Steering Committee for NCAA Recertification on these drafts. Such feedback may be made directly at the Web site indicated above and at the public meeting.
