ASU President receives first significant contribution of the year from alumni Coach and Dr. McGowan
President Brown receives the check from Dr. McGowan and Coach McGowan.
In his first week on the job, Alcorn State University President M. Christopher Brown II received a first major contribution of the year from alumni Coach Willie “Rat” McGowan ’61 and Dr. Doris McGowan ’60. The check for $10,000 was presented to the president on Thursday, January 13th.
This check will be contributed to the Dr. Reginland McGowan Endowment that the McGowans established in 2009 in memory of their son. At the opening of the endowment, Coach and Dr. McGowan contributed $7,881 together with other supporters for student scholarships.
“We are happy and very excited to receive our first major contribution of the year,” stated Stephen McDaniel, vice president for Development and Marketing and executive director of the ASU Foundation, Inc. “Coach and Dr. McGowan are trailblazers of the University. They have always been active supporters of their alma mater and tirelessly engage other alumni to give back.”
