Alcorn to open doors for students and their families on Saturday, April 9
Wondering what campus life is really like at Alcorn State University? It is absolutely fantastic! You do not have to take our word for it – come see for yourself on Saturday, April 9th . At Alcorn’s 2011 Open House, you and your family can get to know us better. Talk with our esteemed professors, mingle with our diverse student body and get a glimpse at all we have to offer.
The day begins with registration at the E.E. Simmons Gymnasium at 8:30-9:00 a.m. It will be followed by greetings from Emanuel F. Barnes, director of admissions, entertainment by the University cheerleaders and the Sounds of Dyn-o-mite band, and welcome by Dr. Gerald C. Peoples, vice president for Student Affairs.
This day is set aside for students and parents to visit the University in preparation for fall enrollment. Schools of instruction along with representatives from financial aid, housing, admissions, registrar, health services, the Business Office, and the Center for Information Technology will be available to meet with students and parents.
The program will also include a Greek Stroll by fraternities and sororities; concurrent sessions in the James L. Bolden Campus Union Ballroom; a college fair by our schools, campus tours, and lunch at 12 noon – 1:00 p.m. The program will conclude with an exciting baseball game at the Willie “Rat” McGowan Sr. Baseball Stadium.
