Presidential Inauguration to Celebrate Engaging Opportunities, Pursuing Excellence 

 Inaugural activities to celebrate the installation of M. Christopher Brown II as the 18th president of Alcorn State University will be held April 15th through 17th with a number of events planned throughout the weekend in conjunction with this symbolic and celebratory occasion. 

The inauguration ceremony—the official investiture of president—will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 16th, in the Dave L. Whitney HPER Complex. The theme for the Presidential Inauguration is ALCORN BRAVERY: ENGAGING POSSIBILITIES, PURSUING EXCELLENCE. Faculty, staff, students, alumni, trustees and friends will provide tributes through music, expressions and presentations. A Celebration Dinner by invitation only will be held at the President’s residence beginning at 5 p.m. Later that evening, the Purple and Gold Presidential Ball in the Dave L. Whitney HPER Complex is open to the public.

In addition to the investiture, a series of events showcasing the university’s commitment to excellence will be held in Vicksburg and Natchez, Mississippi. Highlights of the week include a symposium on the Future of Black Colleges in America, the First Mother’s Luncheon and the Home of the Braves concert.
