Alcorn to host events for family weekend
Alcorn State University invites the entire family of students, employees, alumni and friends to participate in a weekend of fun-filled events that are sure to satisfy everyone’s tastes.
On Friday, November 11, the Lady Braves volleyball team will play their last game of the season against the Lady Panthers of Prairie View A&M at 6:00 p.m. in the Davey L. Whitney Complex. Admission to the game is free.
On that same evening, the University’s A-Club will hold its annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at 7:30 p.m., at the Vicksburg Convention Center. The ceremony will honor former Alcorn athletes and supporters, who have stood out on and off the field by promoting and supporting the Braves. This year’s inductees include: Thomas Bailey, Willie Brock, Murray Creshon, Terry Fluker, Augusta Lee Jr., Quitman Lewis, Houston Markham Jr., Frankie Pilate, Marvin Weeks, and Roynell Young. On Saturday, November 12, you won’t have to choose between your two favorite games, football and basketball as Alcorn will host both.
The Braves football game against the Panthers of Prairie View A&M will be held at 2:00 p.m. in Spinks-Casem Stadium. Twelve senior football athletes will be honored before the game. To purchase tickets, call 601.877.6822 or visit www.alcornsports.com or www.ticketmaster.com .
The day will conclude with the kick-off to the 2011 Braves Basketball Season as new head coach Luther Riley leads the Men’s Basketball team in their season opener against Blue Mountain College at 7:00 p.m. in the Davey L. Whitney Complex. Admission to the game is free.
