Pianist Vera Zholondz and violinist Anton Zholondz, senior music performance majors, and Dr. Donzell Lee, vice provost , participated in the music master class held by the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) in Phoenix, Arizona, October 20-22, 2011.

“The master class was composed of highly selected students from music programs around the nation,” said Dr. Lee, who is also a tenured professor of music in the Department of Fine Arts. “It’s an honor that students from Alcorn were selected to participate.”

Students were required to complete an application and submit an audition tape as part of the selection process. Vera performed Ballade in G Minor by Frederick Chopin. Dr. Lee served as her clinician. Anton Zholondz performed Allemanda and Corrente from Partita #2 by Johann Sebastian Bach, and Dr. Tami Hughes, violin instructor from the University of Kansas, served as his clinician.

Both students received very favorable comments on their performance and were invited to participate in the Master Class Showcase held on October 22nd. The NCHC Master Class and Showcase were initiated by Dr. Lee in 2001 when he served as vice president of NCHC.
