Crime Log - 4th Quarter 2010 

10-03-2010 ___ around hour 6:40 p.m. Unit 8 – Sgt. J. Williams was dispatched to Robinson Hall in the front of the dorm to a fire in a trash can.  Upon arrival the Resident Assistant put the fire out with a fire extinguisher.  

10-04-2010 ___ around hour 12:10 p.m. Unit 12 – Off. L. Davis spoke to Fire Chief Ray White about a 2009 Black Toyota Camry Le that he hit while backing up the fire truck.  The driver was in the vehicle while it was struck.  

10-04-2010 ___ around hour 10:40 a.m.  Unit 12 – Off. L. Davis took a report from a student about her cell phone missing from her room.  

10-04-2010 ___ around 4:00 p.m. Unit 6 – Investigator Walker took a statement from a student concerning threats she received concerning the return of a textbook she borrowed.   

10-05-2010 ___ around hour 11:35 p.m. Unit 16 – Off. C. Jones and Off. K. Furnace dispatched to the Honors dorm and arrested a non-student visitor.   

10-05-2010 ___ around 2:00 p.m. Unit 6 – Investigator Walker took a statement from a student who reported that his speakers in his room were missing and his roommate often leaves the door unlocked (Revels Hall).   

10-05-2010 ___ around hour 12:00 p.m. Unit 5 – Cpt. R. Hammett was dispatched to a 10-50.  The driver of vehicle 1 and was backing from parked position at the new dorm and hit vehicle 2 causing damage to the rear left tail light and bumper. 

 

10-06-2010 ___ around hour 12:00 p.m. Unit 17 – Off. K. Furnace was dispatched to the Honors Dorm room 224 for a fight.  Upon her arrival the fight was over and she found the student sitting on her bed crying.  She stated her roommate hit her in the face. 

10-06-2010 ___ around hour 3:00 p.m. Unit 6 – Lt. A. Walker took report from two football players who came by the police station to report their football helmets were missing.  They stated the helmets were left on the back of a white Ford F150 in front of Albert Lott Dorm.                      

10-06-2010 ___ around hour 10:50 p.m. Unit 7 – Sgt. K. Collins responded to a disturbance during midnight breakfast.   

10-06-2010 ___ around hour 11:30 p.m. Unit 4 – Maj. K. King took report concerning student that had to be transported by ambulance to the hospital. 

10-06-2010 ___ around hour 11:30 p.m. Unit 4 – Maj. K. King took report concerning student that had to be transported by ambulance to the hospital. 

10-06-2010 ___ around hour 4:35 p.m. Unit 23 – Off. B. Brown pulled over a vehicle for loud music.  The driver became disorderly and used profane language.  Off. Brown was advised not to arrest him for disorderly conduct.  The driver works  in the Mass Communications Dept.  (see report for more details). 

10-07-2010 ___ around 3:15 p.m. Unit 6 – Investigator Walker took a a harassing phone call.  The call ID  was identified the caller.  The caller used abusive language and said he was coming to her office.        (see report for more details). 

10-07-2010 ___ around 5:00 a.m. Unit 17 – Off. K. Furnace and Off. Jones were dispatched to Burris Hall were they met a alleged rape victim. She explained the events to the officers and was taken to the hospital.  She had received injuries. (see report for more details). 

10-09-2010 ___ Unit 12 – Off. L. Davis took a report about an toddler child being hit.  The vehicle backed into the child who ran behind her car.  The child had run away from his mother. (see report for more details). 

10-09-2010 ___ around 2:40 p.m. Unit 12 – Off. L. Davis took an accident  report that  was sitting in here 2003 Chevy Impala and  was  hit in the rear. (see report for more details). 

10-09-2010 ___ around 9:15 a.m. Unit 12 – Off. L. Davis took an accident  report that  stated that she was backing into an empty spot  when she was hit in the rear.  The other driver had stopped in the middle of he street when she hit her. (see report for more details). 

10-09-2010 ___ around 1:30 p.m. Unit 12 – Off. L. Davis took an accident report  that staff member backed his white van into  a vehicle when he was backing to let an ASU police car go past. (see report for more details). 

10-09-2010 ___ around 3:00 a.m. Unit 7 – Major King responded to a call  at Mable Thomas.  Both roommates reported items missing. (see report for more details). 

10-11-2010 ___ around hour 9:45 p.m. Unit 23 – Off. B. Brown  and Off. Moore dispatched to the infirmary where they found a staff member had fallen and  twisted her ankle.  Asst. Fire Chief Shaifer took her to the hospital.  (see report for more details). 

10-11-2010 ___ around hour 4:25 p.m. Unit 23 – Off. B. Brown  dispatched to do a report on a hit-and-run vehicle incident.  The driver stated that she parked her vehicle in the parking lot of Dorm Building A.  The next morning, she discovered the vehicle had been hit.  (see report for more details). 

10-11-2010 ___ around hour 7:23 p.m. Unit 21 – Off. K.Moore Asst.  Fire Chief Shaifer  dispatched to do Building A to respond to to a fight. The fight initiated in the lobby and went to the parking lot.  The parties involved were not there when the officers arrived.  The only one present that was involved in the fight, would not talk about it.  (see report for more details). 

10-12-2010 ___ around hour 4:20 p.m. Unit 23 – Off. B. Brown  and Off. Moore dispatched to Mable Thomas. Dean Baker said that the student were smoking marijuana.  Officers Brown and Moore smelled it as they entered that room.  The student said he and another student smoked half a joint.  He would not give the student’s name for fear of being jumped on.  (see report for more details). 

10-12-2010 ___ around hour 9:35 p.m. Unit 23 – Off. B. Brown  and Off. Moore dispatched to Robinson Hall in reference to a theft.  (see report for more details). 

10-13-2010 ___ around 2:30 p.m. Unit 12 – Off. L. Davis took a hit-and-run incident report, a vehicle parked at the NAB Building.   She said that nobody was parked next to her when she left her car.(see report for more details). 

10-13-2010 ___ around 8:30 a.m. Unit 5 –  Captain R. Hammett took a  report about a student car being moved and “trashed”  at Building A. (see report for more details). 

10-14-2010 ___ around 11:00 a.m. Unit 20 – Off. T. Earls  took a accident report that involved a vehicle backing into another at the Library parking lot. (see report for more details). 

10-18-2010 ___ around hour 4:20 p.m. Unit 21 – Off. K. Moore and Off. C. Lewis responded to a disturbance behind Mable Thomas Hall.  The officer arrived to see a male student standing in front  of a vehicle with and some other females sitting in the car.  She had taken his keys claiming that she wanted him to pay for things she brought him. He  said he did have anything that belonged to her. The officers at the scene had the women exit the car and gave him  his keys back.  (see report for more details). 

10-19-2010 ___ around 8:30 a.m. Unit 5 –  Captain R. Hammett took a report from a woman that she has been receiving threatening text message since 10-16-2010.   She also got a threatening letter with a bullet. He  was upset about her erasing him off his facebook page. (see report for more details). 

10-19-2010 ___ around 4:30 p.m. Unit 6 – Investigator Walker  was advised by Asst.  Chief  Stewart that some  students were caught with  a felony amount of marijuana (60 individual dime bags.) The students were taken to Claiborne County Jail.    (see report for more details). 

10-19-2010 ___ around hour 7:00 p.m. Unit 21 – Off. K. Moore and Off. T. Earls responded to a disturbance at the student union.  A student  attempted to take a broom and dust pan out of the union.  When Mr. Moses confronted him, he responded with profane language. (see report for more details). 

10-22-2010 ___ around 3:00 a.m. Unit 7 – Major King and other officers did a room check with dorm matrons. The found several trespassers. (see report for more details). 

10-22-2010 ___ around 3:00 a.m. Unit 7 – Major King and Off. T. Thomas dispatched to Robinson hall about a theft.  A student had accidently left his suitcase in the hall.  He saw another student wearing his clothes.  After a search of  that room, the offers found the student’s  items. (see report for more details). 

10-22-2010 ___ around 12:45 p.m. Unit 6 – Investigator Walker took a statement from two female students  about an on-going conflict between the two. (see report for more details). 

10-23-2010 ___ around 8:30 p.m. Unit 12 – Off. L. Davis  and Captain Hammett dispatched to Mable Thomas Hall  about an theft.  It was discovered that the thief enter from the top closet adjacent to  the other room. (see report for more details). 

10-25-2010 ___ around 6:38 p.m. Unit 23 – Off. B. Brown  was dispatched to  the Math and Science  building where an vehicle’s door was left wide open.  The driver stated that he left it open in a rush to class and nothing was missing. (see report for more details). 

10-25-2010 ___ around hour 10.25 p.m. Unit 21 – Off. K. Moore responded to a fight scene outside Burrus Hall.  One of the fighters and her friend fled when Off. Moore approached.  (see report for more details). 

10-26-2010 ___ around 9:45 a.m. Unit 8 –  Sgt. J. Williams took a complaint from a student  who said one off the police officers who worked the dance sprayed pepper spray in the dance; and the dance was terminated and ruined because the gym was cleared instantly.  This caused a financial stress for the host of the dance. (see report for more details). 

10-26-2010 ___ around 10:45 a.m. Unit 19 –  Officer T. Thomas and Off. M. Bradley responded to a call from the dean of Robinson Hall about the student who was cooking in his room.  The dean took the knife from him and asked him to stop cooking .  The officers at the scene had to detain Redmond  after he was confronted about his profane language.  A search of Redmond produced a small bag of marijuana.  He was taken to Claiborne County jail. 10-26-2010 ___ around 6:17 p.m. Unit 20 – Off. T. Earls took report from Brent Washington concerning someone breaking and entering into dorm room  and stealing 2 X-Boxes 360, 2 Laptops, I-Phone and an I-Pod. 

10-27-2010 ___ around 2:00 a.m. Unit 7 – Major King and Officers:  Jones, Furnace, and Bradley conducted a room search with Dean Larry King and Asst. D. Hargrove of Revels Hall. They found five couples in the bed asleep. (see report for more details). 

 

 

10-28-2010 ___ around 2:00 a.m. Unit 7 – Major King and Officers: K.  Furnace,  responded to Revels Hall Dean Larry King report of possible hazing.  Major King and Off. Furnace found a broken paddle (see report for more details). 

10-28-2010 ___ around 5:45 a.m. Unit 7 – Major King did a report concerning  a woman who almost hitting a police and not responding to the blue lights.  She  responded that she wanted to  get her children on the bus is why she did not stop. (see report for more details). 

10-28-2010 ___ Unit 12 – Off. L. Davis  to a report that a man  has been sending her threatening text messages. (see report for more details). 

10-28-2010 ___ around 10:28 p.m. Unit 23 – Off. B. Brown  and Off. K. Moore were Building B on the assumption that someone was stuck on the elevator.  It was determined that someone was playing on the elevator. (see report for more details). 

10-29-2010 ___ around 1:30 p.m. Unit 12 – Off. L. Davis  and Off. N. Johnson were patrolling around Mabel Thomas Hall and saw students smoking marijuana.  They ran into their room where the officer discovered two bags of marijuana, a hatchet axe, pocket knife and sandwich bags. (see report for more details). 

10-29-2010 ___ around 4:30 p.m. Unit 23 – Off. B. Brown was told by the police greeter that a girl was in the parking lot at the Metrology building crying. Off. Brown approached her.  She stated that her and her boyfriend had a confrontation.  The confrontation occurred off campus so the Claiborne Co. Sheriff dept was called. (see report for more details). 

10-29-2010 ___ around 2:30 p.m. Unit 12 – Off. N. Johnson and Off. L. Davis were patrolling around Mabel Thomas Hall and noticed  a student  smoking.  When the officers approached him, he ran into his room.  He claims he was falsely accused and was not outside his room.  Found in his room  were 2 weed cutter, and blunt roller and two bottles of alcohol. (see report for more details). 

10-31-2010 ___ around 10:50 a.m. Unit 23 – Off. B. Brown  took a about somebody trying to get information off his bankcard.  No money was taken so the report is and welfare concern. (see report for more details). 

10-11-2010 ___ around hour 7:23 p.m. Unit 21 – Off. K.Moore Asst.  Fire Chief Shaifer  dispatched to do Building A to respond to to a fight. 11-01-2010 ___ around hour 9:30 p.m. Unit 21 – Off. C. Lewis was dispatched to the dining hall parking lot where a vehicle had a broken window from a rock. (see report for more details). 

11-01-2010 ___ around hour 2:25 p.m. Captain R. Hammett took a report from a staff member about to female students about to fight.  They have been feuding for months. The attending  officers assisted in detaining the students.  They were taken to 700 for statements.  

11-02-2010 ___ around hour 2:00 p.m.  Unit 12 – Off. L. Davis took a report from a staff member about analytical balance missing from his inventory.  It was in the inventory in August.   

11-03-2010 ___ around hour 10:35 a.m.  Unit 12 – Col. C. Jackson  took the report that a student  lost her book in the bathroom while using the facility.  

11-04-2010 ___ around hour 3:56 p.m. Unit 23 – Off. B. Brown was dispatched to Mabel Thomas Hall about a possible theft.  He  said that he left the door unlocked for his roommate and when he returned to the room, his laptop and phone was missing.  The dean said the roommate was given a new key 

11-06-2010 ___ around hour 10:36 a.m. Captain R. Hammett took a report from Michelle Haggan who report that 3 of her car tires were flatten while she was on a school trip. (see report for more details). 

11-09-2010 ___ around 12:55 a.m. Unit 7 – Major King took statement for students concerning an incident where a student was said to have made death threats.   

11-09-2010 ___ – around hour 1:30 a.m. Off. T. Thomas was patrolling the parking lot of  Building A and saw reckless driving in the parking lot.  The driver was arrested and taken to Claiborne County jail.   

11-10-2010 ___ around hour 8:57 p.m. Unit 23 – Off. B. Brown reported that she stopped a vehicle for loud music and drinking.  He has been stopped repeatedly to no avail.   

11-10-2010 ___ around 3:45 p.m. Unit 6 – Investigator Walker took a statement from  a student who reported that his book-bag was taken while he was eating lunch. 

11-12-2010 ___ around 8:15 a..m. Unit 11 – Judah Godley from the Natchez campus took a report that a male assaulted a female and attempted to take some items from her.  He was escorted of the campus before knowledge of the assault. The Natchez police were advised.   

11-13-2010 ___ around hour 12:45 p.m. Unit 3 – Col. C. Jackson took a report from someone who works in the campus dining hall that someone has been coming to her job site and verbally “messing with her.”   She suspect had left campus before officer could question her.   

11-13-2010 ___ around hour 9:00 p.m. Unit 23 – Off. B. Brown and officer K. Moore were sent to look for a student who was reported to be very depressed.  The search of all male dorm and a search for his vehicle failed.   

11-14-2010 ___ – Off. N. Johnson was dispatched to the ASU gas station that was burglarized  early that morning.  The manager Jimmy Alshae reported that cigars, cigarettes and T-shirts  were taken.   

11-15-2010 ___ – around hour 5:00 p.m. Off. K. Moore  was dispatched to Revel Hall for a trash can fire.  Dean Larry King had put the fire out.  (see report for more details). 

11-16-2010 ___ around 4:00 p.m. Unit 8 –  Sgt. J. Williams and Officer, T. Earls was dispatched to the student union to remover a student  who was not supposed to be in there.  He became disorderly and was arrested.   

11-16-2010 ___ around hour 2:24 p.m. Unit 3 – Col. C. Jackson took a report  from a student  who stated that she left her book bag in the cafeteria and the workers saw it but did retrieve it.  The bag was stolen.   

11-16-2010 ___ around hour 11:30 p.m. Unit 7 – Sgt. K. Collins  took a report   about his missing Ipod.  

11-17-2010 ___ around hour 11:00 a.m. Unit 3 – Col. C. Jackson took a report  from welcome center 1 greeter, Shirley Darden that a truck hit and damaged the building at welcome center 1.  He was allowed because he was going to the AG extension building.   

11-17-2010 ___ around hour 3:40 a.m. Unit 23 – Officer B. Brown and FD2 K. Shaifer responded to a medical call at Eunice Powell Hall. She was taken to the infirmary.   

11-18-2010 ___ around hour 12:39 a.m. Unit 4 – Major King and Officer Bradley responded to a student’s  request to retrieve her laptop computer.  A male student took her computer 3 months ago and did not return it.  When the dorm dean and the officer went to his room, she identified her computer and received it.   

11-18-2010 ___ around hour 2:22 a.m. Unit 4 – Major King reported a fire in the second floor restroom of Revels Hall. 

11-18-2010 ___ around hour 6:26 a.m. Unit 4 – Major King  to a report of vandalism in Robinson Hall.  The snack machine had been broken into. 

11-19-2010 ___ around hour 12 a.m.  Unit 4 – Asst. Chief Stewart advised Lt. Walker to file a report  that involved female students, damaging a surveillance camera in the dormitory. They were identified by two staff members.  

11-19-2010 ___ around hour 12 a.m.  Unit 4  reported that Dean Wilson at Robinson Hall called concerning  3 students, igniting fire cracker and other flammables in the dormitory. 

11-21-2010 ___ around hour 12:49 a.m.  Unit 7– Sgt. Collins was dispatched to Building B. While patrolling, noticed the front window of Robinson Hall was shattered. After further patrolling further, found 8 windows broken at Mabel Thomas and the window at the library. It is suspected to be from a bb or pellet gun.  

11-22-2010 ___ around the hour 3:45 a.m.  Unit 16 – C. Jones responded to a call at Robinson Hall about a break-in.  A man was seen carrying a laptop.  Dean Michael Johnson RA Will Scott said he asked to him provide id. and the man did not.  They watched him and others drive away; they he identified the vehicle and called the campus police. Officers searched campus but could not find. 

11-22-2010 ___ around hour 6 p.m.  Unit 21– K. Moore and Officer B. Brown were dispatched to  Albert Lott Hall. Dean Horton took them to room 327 where they confiscated a marijuana plant. The plant was on James Whitehead side of the room.   

11-22-2010 ___ around hour 5:20 p.m.  Unit 23 B. Brown was dispatched to the Financial Aid Building where a staff member was standing by her vehicle with the back windshield shattered.  She suspects the ground crew threw a rock. 

11-22-2010 ___ around hour 8:15 a.m. Unit 6 took a report concerning a burglary in  EE Simmons Gym.   A staff office was burglarized and a tv and laptop were missing. 

11-23-2010 ___ around hour 1:40 p.m. Unit 6 took a report concerning an auto burglary in the parking lot of the new dorms. She said that she returned to her vehicle Monday after being away for the weekend and notice her stereo had been tampered with and a debit card was missing. 

11-28-2010 ___ around hour 4:50 p.m.  Unit 21– K. Moore was dispatched to Robinson Hall room 131.  A student  said that items totally over $700 were taken from his rom.  He stated that his room was securely locked when he left for Thanksgiving.  His roommate, said he thought the roommate took them with him.   

11-28-2010 ___ around hour 11 p.m.  Unit 4 – Major King, Officers Bradley and Thomas went to Robinson Hall, and  a student reported about $300 worth of items missing.  This reportedly happed during the Thanksgiving break.  

11-28-2010 ___ around hour  8:10 a.m.  Unit 5 – Captain R. Hammett went and removed a student from a classroom for disorderly conduct.  The student appeared to be on something.The concern was that this was totally unlike his normal behavior nor has he ever been disruptive. 

11-29-2010 ___ around hour  11:45 a.m.  Unit 6 – Lt. Walker took a report from  a student concerning items missing from her purse.  She asked someone to watch the purse while she went to fix a plate in the café.  Upon leaving the dining hall, she noticed her wallet missing. 

11-28-2010 ___ around hour  11:45 p.m.  Unit 6 – Major King  and officers Bradley and Thomas went to the honors dorm because  a student needed to go to the hospital. She was very anxious and worried about dying.  The dorm matron took her to Claiborne County Hospital where she recovered. 

11-29-2010 ___ around hour 4:39 a.m.  Unit 21 – Katrina Moore took a report from a student concerning another student harassing her.  Sullivan stated that she has been approached before, each time the agitator had someone with her.  The harassment is supposed over her boyfriend who used to be with the other girl. 

11-30-2010 ___ around hour 8:58 a.m.  Unit 5 – Captain R. Hammett took a report from a student about her roommate taking her things and using her things without asking.  All she wants to do is move out of the room; but she was told she would have to file a report in order to be moved.   

11-30-2010 ___ around hour 11:16 a.m.  Unit 5 – Captain R. Hammett took a report items missing from his room.   

11-30-2010 ___ around hour  4 p..m.  Unit 6 – Lt. Walker took a report from a faculty member whose bag was taken from a classroom while he went to the administration building. 

11-30-2010 ___ around hour 12:36 a..m.  Unit 7 – Sgt Collins took a report from  a student  about receiving threats from other students.  She borrowed some shoes.  The threats began after she asked for the return of the shoes. 

11-30-2010 ___ around hour 12:15 a..m.  Unit 7 – Sgt Collins took a report that  said someone has taken $800 from his room.  There was no sign of forced entry.  Holloway said that his door locks automatically.   

12-02-2010 ___ around hour  11:35 p..m.  Unit 10 – Officer M. Bradley filed a report concerning a disturbance behind Burrus Hall.  Drugs and alcohol were involved.  

12-02-2010 ___ around hour  11:35 a..m.  Unit 24 – Officer N. Johnson  filed a report from a student who left his door opened and had some items taken. 

12-02-2010 ___ around hour  2:25 p..m.  Unit 24 – Officer N. Johnson  filed a report about broken window at the pizza hut.   

12-04-2010 ___ around hour  4:09 a..m.  Unit 7 – Sgt Collins filed a report from Mrs. Johnson who is over the campus book store.  Someone had broke into the union and broke the window to get into the book store.  It is unknown what was taken until inventory was conducted. 

12-04-2010 ___ around hour 1:30 a.m.  Unit 19 Officer T. Thomas and Officer C. Jones went to Albert Lott dormitory where there found a student with marijuana and a hand gun.  He fled before being detained.  

12-06-2010 ___ around hour 4:00 p..m.  Unit 23 – Brenda Brown took a complaint from a student receiving threats.  According to two roommates she made a mess in their bathroom which prompted the threats.   

12-06-2010 ___ around hour 4:00 a.m.  Unit 21 – Katrina Moore took a report from a student that a female student kicked a dent in the side of his truck after he and she wereplaying aroundand he pulled her hair.   

12-06-2010 ___ around hour 7 p..m.  Unit 6 – Lt. Walker took a report from  a student  who stated that his vehicle was broken into and his laptop was taken out of his backpack. 

12-07-2010 ___ around hour 7:30 pm.  Unit 19 Officer T. Thomas took and report from a student about his tires being slashed. 

12-08-2010 ___ around hour 2:33 p..m.  Unit 23 – Brenda Brown and Officer M. Bradley responded to an alarm going off at the bookstore.  Brown and Bradley search the premises.  They noticed that the window broken.  A $759 laptop was taken.  Lt Walker, investigator arrived and took over the case. 

12-06-2010 ___ around hour 1 p..m.  Unit 6 – Lt. Walker took a report at Robinson Hall that the dean took a stolen book from a student. Another student name was in the book. He confirmed it was his. 

12-08-2010 ___ around hour 1:30 p..m.  Unit 6 – Lt. Walker took a report from Laurisa Wesley that Kevin Holloway took her book and did not return it.  Holloway submitted receipts that he bought similar books.  The matter is under investigation. 

12-09-2010 ___ around hour 8 a.m..  Unit 6 – Lt. Walker took a report from a student who stated he left his back pack under the front lobby desk to return and it was gone.  

12-09-2010 ___ around hour 10 a.m..  Unit 6 – Lt. Walker took a report from Postmaster, Benard Johnson that a mailbox in the Ameneties building post office had been pryed open.  

12-09-2010 ___ around hour 2:40 p.m..  Unit 3 – Col. C. Jackson was dispatched to the parking lot of Burris and Robinson Hall.  Physical Plant Vice President Jessie Stephney was there too.  Several students were throwing trash.  Several names and ids were taken. 

12-09-2010 ___ around hour 4 p.m.  Unit 19 Officer T. Thomas took was dispatched to Building C where he met with Mr. Windell Harried and was advised that 8  NEC flat 32flat screen tvs were taken. There were no signs of forced entry. 

12-09-2010 ___ around hour 4 p.m.  Unit 19 Officer T. Thomas received a call that a banned trespasser was on campus.  Officers detained him at the station. He was to be taken to Claiborne County jail. 

12-20-2010 ___ around hour 3:30 p.m..  Unit 6 – Lt. Walker took a report from an Alcorn employee that was assaulted by a construction person who confronted the ASU employee about taking iron at the dump site.
