Services

Counseling and Testing Services are under the administration of The College for Excellence. Students of the university community are provided with counseling services which include: (1) developmental workshops in communication skill building, leadership training, assertiveness training, and life planning; (2) crisis intervention counseling, and personal and social adjustment counseling; (3) vocational-education counseling; (4) psychological testing of interests and aptitudes; (5) referral services; and (6) student leader training.

Testing

All university-wide testing programs are coordinated through the Office of Counseling and Testing, including the following:

  • English Proficiency Examination (requirement for all undergraduate students at Alcorn State)
  • Graduate English Proficiency Examination (requirement for all graduate students at Alcorn State)
  • PRAXIS Series (Teacher Education Requirement)
  • American College Test
  • Miller Analogies Test
  • New Medical College Admission Test
  • Stanford Test of Academic Skills
  • Freshman Competency Examinations
  • Sophomore Competency Examinations

Individual testing in the areas of ability, aptitude, interest and achievement is also available.
