University Health Services are available to every student enrolled at Alcorn State
University and
are located at the Felix H. Dunn Infirmary Building (877-6460). Services provided include physical examinations, general health
treatment and instruction, and limited medications. The following clinic hours are in effect unless otherwise indicated:
Monday-Friday . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.
In case of emergencies during Saturdays and Sundays, the Campus Security Office (877-3000) should be contacted.
A fee is charged to students which is payable to the business office for the following services:
- Special medicine or injections (shots)
- Selective equipment if not returned
Students who must miss classes to report to the infirmary will be given official medical excuses.
These excuses normally cover only the time the student actually spends in the health center
and must be taken to the Office of Counseling and Testing to receive an excuse for missing classes.
Students are reminded that they are responsible for any class work missed.
Special off-campus consultation may be arranged at the student's expense.
Referrals to off-campus hospitals shall be made upon the recommendation of the university health officer.
Full-time students are insured under a group insurance plan; however, this is a secondary policy and is not
intended to replace major medical policies carried by the student or his/her parents.
The university does not provide dental services. Students are advised to arrange for such services prior to
coming to school or during breaks.
Any hospital, medical, physician, or dental bills not paid by insurance must be paid by the student and/or his
parents. The university bears no responsibility for the payment of any medical bills.
