KHEM KLUB Article I. Name: This organization, a part of Alcorn State University shall be known as the Khem Klub. Article II. Purpose: The purpose of the Khem Klub is to involve all Chemistry majors in the study and research of their chosen discipline, to promote continuity of the discipline through achievement of a high caliber, to develop a good relationship with faculty and former graduates, to seek out persons, and to attend meetings which have great influence on future aspirations and hopes. Article III. Advisors and Advisory Board Article IV. Officers and Elections Section I. The Khem Klub shall have the following officers: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Secretary, Business Manager, Senator, Parliamentarian, Historian, and Reporter. Section II. Classification of officer's duties and responsibilities:
Section III. Officers shall be elected annually. Article V. Meetings Section I. The Khem Klub shall meet two times each month during the regular school year. Article VI. Quorum Section I. The presence of more than 50% of the active membership shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business. Article VII. Executive Committee Section I. There shall be an Executive Committee consisting of the officers, immediate past president, and three members at large elected by the club. Section II. The Executive Committee shall conduct (the) business as deemed necessary (of) for the club between meetings. Article VIII. Penalties for Members (Fines, Probation, Suspension) Section I. All active members are required to attend 50% of all meetings held during the year. Those who do nor meet this qualification are not eligible for awards. Article IX. Grade Point Averages Section I. Active members must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0. Article X. Finances Section I. Membership Dues
a. Active voting members annual dues are $20.00. Article XI. Observations Section I. The Annual Awards Banquet shall be held in the month of April. All forms of credible achievement among the membership shall be recognized. Article XII. Membership Section I. There shall be four categories of membership: a. All Chemistry majors (undergraduates) are automatically Khem Klub members. b. Any graduate student with a concentration in Chemistry may be a Khem Klub member. c. All faculty members and former graduates of the department may be in the category of Lifetime Members. d. Honorary Lifetime membership, a category for any individual who the organization deems instrumental in promoting the purpose of the Khem Klub. Article XIII. Khem Klub Library Section I. The Khem Klub Library in association with the Department shall be maintained and upgraded by the club. Article XIV. The Directory Section I. The club shall update the Directory of the Khem Klub members and chemistry graduates every two years (1984). Article XV. Amendment of Bylaws Section I. This Constitution may be amended by a majority vote of the membership provided the amendment proposed (is) has been submitted in writing at a previous meeting of the club, andspecifically announced in a call meeting at which the action on the proposed amendment is to be taken.
