There are four (4) types of paper applications to fit your admission need. For your convenience, applications are provided in an interactive PDF format. When completing the fillable application, follow these instructions: 1) be sure to click inside the check box to enter your selection, 2) make sure you enter an email address, 3) make sure your application is signed and dated.
First Time Enrollee Graduate Application For Admission
First-Time Graduate Application (fillable form)
Applicants new to the University should complete this application and submit the following:
- A complete application for admission to the Office of Graduate Studies.
- An official transcript of all academic work on the collegiate level. (At least one transcript must bear a posted Bachelor's degree)
- The results of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), or a passing score on the Core Academic Skills for Educators (C.A.S.E.) and Praxis II (See Degree Programs and Entrance Requirements for required standardized test scores for admission). Test scores must not be older than five (5) years.
- Two letters (Recommendation Letter form) of recommendation.
- Immunization Requirement - Health Record to include two doses MMR, Hepatitis B (health-related fields), Tuberculosis Chest X-Ray and Blood Test (International students only upon arrival in the United States).
- Applicants to the Department of Graduate Nursing must submit
- evidence of licensure in Mississippi,
- evidence of malpractice or liability insurance with current identification number,
- a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program,
- Resume', and
- a personal statement of professional goals of no more than 500 words.
- For International students, the results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or International English Language Testing System (IELTS), evidence of financial support, Tuberculosis Screening results (Chest X-Ray and Blood Test) and an official transcript evaluated by a member of National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
- An application fee of ten dollars ($10.00) for non-resident of Mississippi (money order Payable to Alcorn State University) must accompany the application. PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH.
Readmission Application
Readmission Application (fillable form)
Applicants who have not been in attendance at the University for one or more semesters should complete this one-page application. No other documents are required for submission unless admission documents must be updated. Students must be in good academic standing to be readmitted. Readmission requests must be submitted for the same program of admission. All students applying for readmission must comply with the policy of a health record on file.
Application For Admission For Second Master's Degree
Second Master's Degree Application (fillable form)
Applicants who have completed a first master's degree from Alcorn State University should complete this application to pursue a second degree. A student who has completed the first master's degree from another institution must complete the First Time Enrollee Application for Admission. All students applying for a second master's must comply with the policy of a health record on file.
Applicants are required to submit the following:
Master's Degree
- Application for Admission for Second Master's Degree from Alcorn State University
- Official Graduate Transcript with posted degree
If you are pursuing a second master's degree outside the field of education, then you will need to submit two letters of recommendation.
Specialist Degree
- Application for Admission for Second Master's Degree from Alcorn State University
- Official Transcript with posted Master's Degree
- AA Educator License in a teaching field (elementary or secondary)
Non-Degree Application For Admission
Non-Degree Application (fillable form)
This application should be completed by the prospective student who is not pursuing a degree program at Alcorn State University. Admission is sought to meet a professional enhancement requirement or until the applicant can fulfill credentialing requirements for regular admission. Students in this category are allowed to take no more than nine (9) semester hours. At the completion of 9 semester hours, a student must apply for a degree program in order to continue as a graduate student. All students applying for non-degree must comply with the policy of a health record on file.
A Non-Degree applicant must submit the following:
- Non-Degree Application for Admission.
- Official Transcript.
- Statement of Purpose of no more than 500 words.
