First and Second Year Experience

Welcome to Alcorn State University!

Welcome to Alcorn State University. You’re about to begin an incredible journey and it’s our goal to help make it memorable. We look forward to meeting you at Fall 2018 New Student Orientation Weekend of Welcome (WOW) which will be held on Friday, August 17-Sunday, August 19. Registration will be held on Friday, August 17 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for new and transfer students. The Opening Session for New Student Orientation will begin at 4:00 p.m. in the James L. Bolden Campus Union Ballroom on Friday, August 17. Classes will begin on Monday, August 20.

Orientation is required for ALL students. At orientation, you will get the opportunity to learn about the campus, meet other new students, talk to faculty and staff, and discover what services are available to you. Orientation is a great time to ask questions, and get a sneak peek of what to expect at ASU before the semester starts. Studies have shown that students who attend orientation have higher college success rates.

On behalf of the faculty, staff and administration at Alcorn State University, we look forward to joining you as you begin this exciting journey toward a successful future.

Safe travels and let me be the first to welcome you to your new home!
