Alcorn continues digital clearance process for Fall 2018 Commencement

For the Fall 2018 Commencement, Alcorn State University continues the paperless clearance process adopted by the President's Cabinet in spring 2017.  The new process is the result of listening sessions and town hall meetings with Alcorn students.  According to the new clearance process, any degree applicant who has fulfilled all degree requirements and who has no account holds will be cleared for graduation and commencement purposes.  Students, especially at a distance, need not commute to campus, gain signatures, or stand in line.

According to Dr. John G. Igwebuike, interim provost & executive vice president for Academic Affairs said, "The e-clearance process represents an evolution in the ongoing digital revolution at Alcorn.  Alcorn continues to leverage technologies to digitally deliver amazing customer service that uniquely meets student needs anytime and anywhere.  President Lee's strategic investments in cutting-edge technologies such as go.alcorn, Google Apps for Education, and Canvas allow us to deploy these systems in creative ways to remove obstacles, streamline processes, save time, boost student, staff, and faculty satisfaction.  Alcorn is transforming into a hyper-agile, high-tech university while maintaining high-touch customer service.  We are moving in the right direction."

Robert Tatum, Jr., Student Government Association president said, "The paperless clearance process is simple, straightforward, and a big benefit for graduating seniors who have much to do as they prepare for graduation."

Interim President, Dr. Donzell Lee said, "Students can invest the efficiency gains and time savings towards having a strong fall semester finish, as well as preparing themselves and their families for a memorable commencement."

Students can log into BANNER or go to go.alcorn to see holds. If all degree requirements are met, and no financial obligations or holds are outstanding, the student is cleared for commencement.
