Alcorn State University announces fall 2021 commencement plans

Alcorn State University will host its fall 2021 commencement ceremony at 9 a.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at the Jack Spinks Stadium-Marino Casem Field.

“Commencement is a special occasion for the University to honor and celebrate our students’ successes and accomplishments with their friends and families. This fall’s ceremony holds special meaning as the University celebrates 150 extraordinary years,” said Dr. Felecia M. Nave, president of Alcorn State University. “In the spirit of our rich history of trailblazers and history makers, I am especially proud of the resolve and resilience embodied by these remarkable young men and women in achieving this important milestone despite the unprecedented challenges of an ongoing global pandemic.”

The University will continue to enforce safety protocols to protect the health and safety of the campus community. Tickets will not be required, however, the University encourages visitors to wear a face covering and socially distance. Graduating candidates and program participants will be required to wear a face covering on the field during the ceremony.

“We are excited to celebrate this achievement in the lives of our graduates,” said Dr. Ontario S. Wooden, provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs. “We are incredibly proud of everything our students have accomplished and look forward to their continued success.”

The University will hold its commencement ceremony in the football stadium to help promote the safety and wellbeing of guests, students, faculty, and staff. Additional details will be forthcoming by separate communications and as updates become available, they will also be posted on the University’s website.
